Last night I got another story from Ken Escobedo about Grimm Death Records, Ken was co-founder with Brad Buldak (Morgue & Grimm Death' zine) who's idea it was to start this label back in 1992, unfortunately this label only existed for a short time.

New Stories # 1

This weekend was very productive...

Friday evening I hung out Jim Bresnahan he told me the story about his old band Contagion which he formed back in the day with Andy Kuizin who is now the drummer in Cianide, my chapter with Contagion is now almost finished.

Saturday I hung out with Ken Escobedo, I started my interview with him, we talked about two labels he had worked with back in the 90's Metal Merchant & Lost Horizon LTD,  I'm finished with the chapter on Metal Merchant, but still working on Lost Horizon LTD.  Ken has a lot of great information for me, we will be doing more interview sessions in the future.

Marek Trela - Forest of Impaled - Mortis Dei & Other Stories

A few weeks ago I interviewed Marek Trela from Forest Of Impaled, my interview with him was extremely informative, I can't wait to share all this information with you when my book is published.  With the help of Marek, I'm closing in on finishing another small section of my publication from the 1992-1999 era.

I still have many more interviews to do with people I've been in contact with who are interested in being in this publication, I will try to keep you posted as the interviews are completed.

Book project updates: With the help of Rob Campos, I've collected a few new stories about some now-defunct 'zines from the 1990s. The first was called Terror Throne 'Zine and was active in 1992. The other is Pagan Pages 'Zine, which was active from 1993-96. I also wrote a short story about a metal radio program that existed from 1991-92. Also wrote a short story about the band Terror Throne, to add to the collection of stories from 1996-99. Rob is continuing to contribute to this project and he and I have some new ideas we're working on.

Introduction

The purpose of this blog is to document the history of Chicago metal from the mid 70s to 1999. This will consist of candid interviews, reviews, and commentary from the participants of over a quarter century of Chicago metal.

Mentioned are bands such as Contagion, Cianide, Usurper, Master, Forest of Impaled, Funereal, Funeral Bitch, and many others.
